Groundbreaking for New Hospital
HCHD Makes History
The new Golden Plains Community Hospital is about to
become a reality! The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking
ceremony for the new Hutchinson County Hospital District healthcare
facility on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. on the hilltop just
west of Frank Phillips College. Jock Lee, HCHD Board Chairman, said,
“The building of this new hospital has been a goal that many in
this community have shared for some time. We are grateful to everyone
who works to make our hospital a place where people are given
professional service by compassionate and caring people. This new
building will facilitate the ability of the people who work in it to
provide healthcare for the people in our District and in the area
around us for years to come.” Dennis Jack, CEO of Golden
Plains Community Hospital, said, “We are really excited about
getting this new hospital construction started. According
to the general contractor, the construction will take 11 months, so
with our planned start of September we should be in our new hospital by
September of 2011.” Jack said the general public is invited to
the shovel ceremony, but due to limited space, the lunch that follows
is only for invited guests. “I wish we could feed
everyone,” he said, “ but due to limited space we just
don’t have that option.” Those attending the
groundbreaking are encouraged to park at Frank Phillips College or the
FPC A&I Center as the road to the top of the site is difficult to
get to in a car. Transportation will be provided to and from the
groundbreaking site.
